Our Story |
Over the years, the church served as a worshiping center for the Pantops area. Ministries to children, like Kingdom Kids, and senior adults, like the Senior Singers, guided members to grow in their faith. Missions has always been a highlight of the church’s identity with partnerships in the local community like a handbell choir at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women and international mission trips to Slovakia, Ghana, Macedonia, Cuba, and more. In July 2023, the congregation voted to change its name from Broadus Memorial Baptist Church to Pantops Community Church in recognition of the location of our building in the Pantops area of Albemarle County, which we see as a home base in ministering to our community and beyond. While celebrating the spirit, people, and ministries that have made this church special for four decades and maintaining our Baptist roots, we also sought to distance ourselves from legacies and faith practices that have caused harm to our neighbors in the past. As we begin a new chapter in the life of our church, we continue to welcome all to join us in exploring what faith in Jesus means and in finding meaningful ways to live into our calling to love God and all of God's children. |
